On Friday, All Our Kin’s executive director Jessica Sager had the pleasure of attending the Connecticut Family Resource Center Alliance’s annual “Friend of the Family” awards event at the State Capitol. It was a wonderful event celebrating those who have been champions for children in the past year. This year, Governor Malloy and Senator Bye were honored.
Regarding the importance of the role of early childhood education in promoting better outcomes for students in our state, Senator Bye made the excellent point that “In Connecticut, we talk a lot about how we have the largest achievement gap… That just means we have the most to gain.” Senator Bye also referenced the New York Times’ recent focus on early childhood. Check out these articles to read what the Times has been saying about early childhood education and the challenges parents face when seeking quality spaces for their children:
Our Family Resource Centers deserve many thanks for their important work supporting families and children. All Our Kin has been so happy to partner with Connecticut’s Family Resource Centers through our Early Learning Guidelines (ELG) project, and we’re excited to be doing another round of the ELG in Spanish in the near future!
